As the oldest museum in Singapore, the National Museum of Singapore is essentially the museum you have to visit here. Dating back all the way to 1887, the museum has a long history of various exhibits and artworks. Exhibits showcasing Singapore’s history and culture are often on display. Visitors can come by to learn a little more about the various ways that Singapore has progressed into the city that it is today.  There are also special events held in the museum like the annual Night Festival, a festival filled with various night time activities and performances!

The National Gallery Singapore is a museum that holds the world’s largest collection of Southeast Asian and Singapore artworks. There are over 8,000 different artworks housed in the museum as a part of both permanent and special exhibits. The national gallery is also a great place to visit for its architecture. The museum maintains its historic exterior of its predecessor as the Supreme Court and City Hall buildings. It has also updated its internals with newer additions like a Roof Garden Gallery where one can look at picturesque views of the city.

The Singapore Art Museum has a strong focus on showcasing various contemporary artworks from all around the world, especially those from Singapore and the regions of Southeast Asia. The museum was first opened in 1996 as Singapore’s first art museum. Today, the Singapore Art Museum continues to specialize in these contemporary artworks by collaborating with various museums around the world to showcase the best in their exhibitions. The Singapore Art Museum also often holds programs aimed at educating the public on contemporary art.

The ArtScience Museum is Singapore’s premier museum that focuses on science-related artworks and exhibits. The museum is an art hub for all that is related to science and technology, with exhibits primarily aimed at emphasizing the integrative nature of art and science. Prominent exhibits that have been showcased here include Harry Potter: The Exhibition, Dreamworks Animation and also the Future World exhibit. Most of the exhibits here are generally family oriented, ensuring that there is always something for everyone to see and do! The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM) is a museum that specializes in showcasing plant and animal biodiversity. The museum aims to educate the public on various environmental and biodiversity issues while also maintaining as a site for conducting important research. The museum mainly focuses on the biodiversity of Southeast Asia, however, it does showcase a large natural history collection ranging from endangered species to even dinosaurs! The Singapore Science Centre is an interactive and fun museum for your young ones to enjoy. It was first opened in 1977 and it has since captured the hearts of many curious Singaporeans. The centre has a unique collection of exhibits that aim to instil the love for science and technology on all. Apart from viewing these cool exhibits, visitors will also definitely learn something new. There are science exhibits within the centre and also interactive playgrounds around it for your young ones. The centre is also accompanied by the Omni-Theatre, Singapore’s only dome-shaped IMAX theatre. It is a great place to enjoy breathtaking documentaries with a unique surround sound and view theatre. The Science Centre is a great place for all in the family!
