Overview
There are two plazas in the District 12 vicinity, Balestier and Shaw Plaza, which cater to most general needs. The first plaza hosts a branch library and cinema whereas the other subsequently contains a post office. Besides that, there are supermarkets, banks, retail and entertainment outlets, even a veterinary clinic just at close quarters. The surrounding townships, on the other hand, are a foodies’ delight, catering to diverse palates. There is notably, a great number of schools planted in the area which include the Balestier Hill Secondary School and St. Joseph’s Institution. The Civil Service Club and the Ceylon Sports Club are two of the recreational facilities located nearby as well. There are a number of historical sites within the precinct, such as the art deco shophouses, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall and the former Shaw Brothers Studio that was used by the Japanese to promote propaganda films during World War II. Kemaman Point – Accessibility The nearest MRT station from Kemaman Point is Toa Payoh MRT, just a ten-minute walk away. Multiple bus stops can be found right outside the compound, less than a 5-minute walk away. Private vehicle owners travelling to the business hub can expect to reach within 20 minutes via the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), while those heading to the Orchard Road shopping district can easily be there within 10 minutes via the Central Expressway (CTE).
